Huai'an is located in the central northern part of Jiangsu Province, where the Huai River intersects with the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. Large lakes such as Hongze Lake and Baima Lake are scattered, forming a vast wetland ecosystem. The abundant water resources give birth to a large number of aquatic plants, plankton, and fish and shrimp, providing a natural feeding ground for Mandarin geese. The surrounding high-quality rice and wheat planting areas produce ideal auxiliary feed such as straw and flattened grains. ​

Huai'an belongs to a monsoon climate that transitions from subtropical to warm temperate regions, with distinct four seasons and an average annual temperature of around 14 ℃. The frost free period lasts for 220 days, and precipitation is concentrated in summer, providing excellent light and heat conditions. This climate not only ensures the rapid growth of Mandarin geese in warm seasons, but also allows the goose down to fully develop at suitable temperatures. ​

Thanks to its unique environment, Huai'an Pu White Goose has excellent velvet production performance. Its velvet buds are full, the fibers are slender and tough, the fluffiness can reach 600FP, and the warmth is outstanding. The average annual velvet production of a single adult goose is 180-220 grams. With high-quality feathers, it has become the preferred raw material for making light luxury down products.
