Wuchuan, Guangdong Province is located at the estuary of the lower reaches of Jianjiang River, adjacent to the South China Sea, with crisscross rivers and vast mudflat. The sediment carried by Jianjiang nurtures a large number of plankton, fish, shrimp, and aquatic plants, providing a natural source of food for grey geese. The straw and residue produced by surrounding farmland and sugarcane forests are used as supplementary feed. The local area belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 23 ℃ and an annual precipitation of over 1500 millimeters. It is warm and humid all year round, with sufficient sunshine, which is conducive to the rapid growth and feather development of gray geese.
The superior environment endows Wuchuan gray geese with outstanding velvet production performance. The average annual velvet production of a single adult goose is 120-150 grams, with soft and fine feathers, small but tightly arranged fibers, good elasticity and toughness, and a fluffiness of up to 550-600 FP. It has excellent warmth retention, water washing resistance, and deformation resistance, making it a high-quality raw material for making high-end down products and occupying an important position in the down market
